The Rusland Valley lies in the southern part of the Lake District National Park between Lake Coniston and Windermere. It is a quiet area of gentle rolling fells, moorland, woodland, fields and wetlands, with farms, hamlets and small villages.

• Rusland Valley and Fells Heritage Lottery Fund Bid. Unfortunately the bid was not successful this time. The Committee will be receiving detailed feedback, but they understand that the Rusland bid was considered to be a strong one. However, there were a total of 39 bids nationally, of which just 11 are to receive funding. The Committee may decide to have another go in 2012.
